Makeen.ed — how the free tier, upgrading, billing, and cancellation work for individual subscriptions.
This policy applies to individual subscriptions purchased directly on makeened.io by a person paying with their own payment method.
Institutional licences are not covered by this policy.
Where a school, school group, ministry, education authority, or other organisation licenses Makeen.ed under a signed agreement, the commercial terms of that agreement — including payment schedule, term, renewal, and any refund or termination provisions — govern exclusively. Nothing in this policy varies, overrides, or adds to an executed institutional agreement.
Makeen.ed is operated by SLA Technologies, trading as Smart Learning Arabia, a company licensed in Dubai, United Arab Emirates under commercial licence number 805385, with its registered address at 401 Zarouni Business Center, Barsha, Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. In this policy, “we”, “us”, and “our” refer to that company.
Every Makeen.ed account includes a permanent free tier: 3 teaching tasks per month, at no cost. No card details are required to create an account or to use the free tier.
The free tier has no time limit and no end date. Your 3 tasks reset at the start of each calendar month for as long as you have an account, whether or not you ever upgrade.
You choose when to upgrade. Nothing is charged automatically.
When you want full access to the task library, you can upgrade at any time from your account. Card details are entered at the point of upgrade, and you are charged immediately for the plan you select — USD 18 for the monthly plan, or USD 180 for the annual plan. There is no trial period on the paid plan and no automatic conversion: we only charge you once you actively choose to upgrade and confirm payment.
You can cancel at any time, and cancelling is straightforward:
Subscription payments are final. Once a billing period has begun, we do not refund it — in full or pro-rata — whether you cancel partway through, do not use the service, or simply change your mind.
You can cancel at any time to stop future charges (see section 5 above), and you keep access to what you have already paid for until the end of that period. On the annual plan this means the full twelve months: cancelling part-way through a paid year stops the next renewal and leaves your access running to the end of that year, but the remaining months are not refunded.
Section 6 states our general position: subscription payments are final. There are a small number of situations where we will still refund you, regardless:
These are handled as a matter of course, not as an exception you have to argue for.
Before you raise a chargeback, please contact us.
Almost every billing problem is faster to fix directly, and a chargeback can suspend your account while the card issuer investigates.
We may change the subscription price. If we do, we will give you at least 30 days' notice by email before the new price applies to your subscription, and the change will only take effect from your next billing date. If you do not want to continue at the new price, you can cancel before that date at no cost.
If we suspend or terminate a paid account for breach of our Terms of Service, we are not obliged to refund the current billing period. If we discontinue Makeen.ed entirely, we will refund the unused portion of any period you have already paid for.
Nothing in this policy limits any right you have under applicable consumer protection law that cannot be excluded by agreement.
This policy is governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates, as applied in the Emirate of Dubai, and the courts of Dubai have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from it.
